Comprehensive Care for Women Veterans

The VA is committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive healthcare for women veterans in a safe and private environment. This includes primary care, gynecology, maternity care, and mental health services tailored to your unique needs.

Key Healthcare Services

Every VA medical center has a Women Veterans Program Manager to help you coordinate all the services you need.

  • Primary Care: Comprehensive care from a provider who specializes in women's health.
  • Gynecology & Maternity Care: The VA covers and provides a full range of reproductive health services, including maternity care through community providers.
  • Mental Health: Specialized services for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD, with a focus on trauma-informed care for issues like Military Sexual Trauma (MST).
  • Disease Prevention: Screenings for breast cancer (mammograms), cervical cancer, and other conditions common in women.

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Support

The VA provides free, confidential counseling and treatment for mental and physical health conditions related to MST to all veterans, regardless of your disability rating or discharge status.

  • Every VA facility has an MST Coordinator who can help you access these services.
  • You do not need to have reported the incident when it happened or have other documentation to receive care.
  • Both male and female therapists are available.
